Gorillaz plastic beach...fill me in a bit?

so, i was a huge gorillaz fan at one point and i loved following the story and trying to figure out what was going on. then i sorta moved on to some other stuff cause i heard the band was breaking up and 2D had died and all this stuff. later i saw new stuff by them and was like WTF! so i've been trying to figure stuff out. i've had some success learning about what they've been up to, but i started playing the Plastic Beach game a couple days ago and im kinda lost. i have figured out some of the stuff and keep looking for new stuff. i freed murdoc from the bookself and people keep talkin about flooding (mainly caused so the gorillaz people could stall and fix stuff in the game.) well, i guess i missed that or am not far enough along for it or something. idk, so could someone fill me in on what is up with the game. also, can you get the adapter back from the mechanic (2D keeps asking for it and it sorta breaks my heart to not be able to give it to him.i amm such a dork). any other info would also be appriciated
