Signs of a failing relationship?

i amm a high school student 9th grade nd iv been relationships were thy were more pettyful thn actual love or like. and fianlly this year i find this 1 guy i actually lke. he had just asked me out Thursday and wen i went 2 tlk 2 him he seemed kinda shy... it made me feel kinda down. i dnt kno wether thtz a sign or him jst being.... shy. sorry if this is confusing :)
